Argos-Suck.com to Invest in the Future of Tiger-Cat Player Personnel
Jarred

(Hamilton-August 15, 2006) – Argos-Suck.com is pleased to announce that it will be providing an all-expenses-paid sponsorship to 13-year-old Hamilton native Jarred Marsh (pictured right) for the upcoming Tiger-Cats Rookies Football Camp, to be held at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario during the week of August 21st 2006.

The Rookies program is a community outreach initiative of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club, and aims to teach young persons aged 6-13 individual football drills and team development techniques, as well as proper nutrition and fitness. Instructors will include current and former Tiger-Cat coaches and players such as Archie Amerson, Ron Lancaster, D.J. Flick, Jason Maas and Joe Paopao (appearances subject to change – see http://www.ticats.ca/index.php?module=page&id=4073 for more information).

After an exhaustive search, the argos-suck.com Board of Directors unanimously decided to bestow its sponsorship on Jarred due to his unwavering commitment as a Tiger-Cat fan, his innate understanding of the history, significance, and appropriate use of the infamous chant “argos-suck!”, and the fact that he happens to sit near argos-suck.com’s Security Director.

For more than 30 years, the various affiliates of argos-suck.com have firmly established themselves as positive and contributing members of the Tiger-Cats community. Among other antics, we have celebrated the longstanding civic antagonism between Hamilton and Toronto by helping to maintain a friendly and good-natured (albeit still intense) rivalry with a wide cross-section of argo fans. We have ran for political office in an attempt to save the franchise from past bankruptcies. We have served thematic “argos suck!” foodstuffs to friend and foe alike at tailgate parties across the country, and we have flown a plane that trailed an “argos suck!” banner over Ivor Wynne Stadium during the Labour Day Classic (2002 version).

However, Ticat owner Bob Young’s now-notorious personal distaste for the storied chant has made pariahs of the “argos suck!” demographic. Of course, no one has felt this opprobrium more than the Board of Directors at www.argos-suck.com. Although we feel we have met Mr. Young more than half way by advocating for the appropriate and considerate use of the chant, and although we have provided all interested parties with its origins, historical context and philosophical implications, we continue to be the object of Mr. Young’s uncharacteristic scorn. It is no surprise that the Tiger-Cats have fell on hard times on the field of play ever since Mr. Young announced that the Team would no longer promote the use of the term “Argos Suck!” in 2004. We believe that the Tiger-Cats need to re-embrace the chant “Argos-Suck” (aka the Forbidden Chant) as a key component of re-gaining credibility on the field of play.

It is therefore our express wish that our Rookies Camp sponsorship will stand as an example of the good that can be accomplished when our constituency is permitted to peacefully co-exist with the Tiger-Cat ownership, as has been the historical norm.
